Frequently Asked Questions

What is special about Polish Pottery?

Polish pottery is a type of hand-painted European stoneware that is extremely solid and durable, able to withstand both use in the freezer as well as oven temperatures up to 480°F / 250°C. Distributing heat and cold evenly, it retains temperatures for longer than conventional kitchenware and is both long-lasting and beautiful.

Can Polish Pottery be used in the microwave?

Yes. This stoneware is safe to use in the microwave, oven, freezer, and dishwasher. Coming in many shapes and sizes, it is highly versatile and also easy to clean - a workhorse in the kitchen.

Is Polish Pottery food safe?

Yes. Polish pottery is both lead and cadmium free and safe for everyday use. Additionally, its smooth glaze is highly resistant to scratching and acidic foods, ensuring the richly decorated patterns remain bright and new for the life of the product.

Is Polish stoneware dishwasher safe?

Yes. Because it is glazed evenly resulting in a thick, smooth, glasslike surface, Polish pottery is easy to clean and also dishwasher safe. Bakers and home chefs love it for its ease of use, beauty, and durability.

Does Polish Pottery chip or crack easily?

No. Stoneware is fired at very high temperatures, making it as solid as a stone (hence, the name). Unlike earthenware, where the minerals in the clay do not meld together as strongly, it won’t crack or chip easily unless exposed to extreme temperature changes in a short amount of time. Its non-porous glaze makes it further resistant to hairline cracks which – as often seen with other more cheaply made ceramics -- can eventually cause a piece to fail.

Is Polish Pottery valuable?

Yes. Because Polish stoneware has been traditionally hand-painted and made by artists in Bolesławiec, Poland for centuries, it has a strong collector’s market. New and unique patterns, interesting shapes, and artist-signed limited-edition pieces continue to evolve, giving collectors the opportunity to mix and match patterns and find joy in discovering both new and hard-to-find items.

What if my items arrive broken?

We pack all orders very carefully to ensure they arrive safely, but accidents outside of our control happen sometimes. If any of the items break in transit, simply let us know as soon as possible and we will either issue a refund or send a replacement item.

What is your return policy?

Our return policy is very simple. If you don't like the product you purchased from us you can return it within 90 days. No questions asked. We will exchange the product or refund the money. Here are a few simple rules that apply to all returns:
1. Contact us first at support@polmedia.com to let us know that you are returning an item.
2. Tell us what you want us to do when we receive your return (different item or a refund).
3. If possible, don't remove the original stickers from items being returned.
4. Please don't use the items you want to return.
5. Make sure your return package is insured.
6. Shipping fees are non-refundable.

I got a notification that one of the items is sold out. What's next?

This happens very rarely when you hold items in a shopping cart for an extended period of time or our inventory did not update quickly enough after the last item in stock was sold. If this happens, you will be notified by email of the missing item and given the option of substitution or a refund.
